• Jose “Yusuf” Vidal Valdes

    POLITICAL DIRECTOR

    Jose “Yusuf” Vidal Valdes is a dedicated advocate and policy expert committed to fostering equitable change in public service. Originally from Chile, Yusuf immigrated with his family and now resides in the southwest suburbs with his wife, Arifa, and their two sons. His career is marked by a relentless commitment to public service, advocating for marginalized communities, and strategically implementing progressive policies to drive positive change locally and beyond.

    Prior to joining All United as Political Director, he served as Chief of Staff in the Office of State Representative Abdelnasser Rashid, where he helped lead to office, managed legislative priorities, an Previously, Yusuf held the role of Senior Director of Policy & Engagement for the Office of MWRD Commissioner Eira Corral Sepúlveda. In this capacity, he spearheaded policy research and stakeholder engagement, focusing on expanding affirmative action initiatives. His efforts included securing funding for a Mentor-Protege program, the creation of a Small Business Enterprise program, and establishing a Diversity Advisory Council, to name a few.

    Beyond his governmental roles, Yusuf has led impactful political campaigns, notably as Campaign Manager for Rashid for Illinois, which resulted in electing the first Palestinian-American to the Illinois General Assembly. Before this, he worked for electoral organizations like the Illinois Muslim Civic Coalition Activate and Empower Southwest, dedicating his efforts to organizing and empowering historically disenfranchised communities for active political participation.

    Yusuf also served as the Midwest Organizing & Partnerships Manager at Young Invincibles, where he advocated for expanding healthcare access, increasing need-based aid for higher education, and securing funding for diverse and equitable workforce opportunities for young adults throughout Illinois.

    In his personal capacity, Yusuf has contributed to empowering the next generation by serving on various boards, including as Cook County Director for the Young Democrats of Illinois, Chair of the Board of Trustees for MSA West, and Advisory Board Member for The National Alliance to Advance Adolescent Health. He earned a B.A. in Political Science from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and a Master of Arts from the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago. Yusuf also spent a year abroad studying Political Science and Government at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
